Get Your
Head Straight - EP Review: Contrast
Hailing from Milton Keynes, U.K., Get Your Head Straight is a 5-piece up and
coming pop-punk band that has a lot to offer for Pop Punk fans everywhere.
They have a variety of musical influences ranging from old Pop Punk to other
genres like Metal, but they mainly take influence from what could be
described as the new wave of Pop Punk.
When we last
spoke with Get Your Head Straight, they had just released their music video
for their single “Hours.” We featured them on episode 41 back in 2017. Since
then, the band has put together a phenomenal EP. That EP is called Contrast.
Contrast can be ranked right up there with mainstream Pop Punk. From the
easy listening and positive vibes to the head bopping, feet tapping sing
alongs. I found myself reminiscing of Pop Punk bands I listened to as a
teenager like Blink-182, New Found Glory, Sum 41, Simple Plan and Jimmy Eat
World. It reminded me of how much joy music has brought to me over the
years. I’ve never stopped listening to Pop Punk and it will always have a
special place in my heart.
I
personally cannot wait to add Contrast to my music library.
Every song on the EP can be considered an absolute standout. You can jump
into this EP anywhere and it flows perfectly.
Get Your Head Straight plans to release a couple singles from the EP
including “Medusa” and “Excuses.” “Medusa” has more of a melodic feel
accompanied by intricate guitar work while “Excuses” takes a more upbeat and
very catchy approach. I personally have “Excuses” pegged as one of my
favorites on the EP.
Get Your Head Straight will be making waves with the release of Contrast.
Keep an eye out for the release date of the EP and singles.
Get Your Head Straight’s Contrast will make State Champs raise their
eyebrows and Neck Deep look twice.
